Ylayali is the solo project of Francis Lyons, drummer for Free Cake For Every Creature and the now-defunct Grady Stiles. Consisting of eight songs about eating hot dogs for breakfast, smelling bad and actor Charles Grodin, “Ylayali” manages to feel very personal while still keeping things a little more lighthearted than many of its contemporaries within the northeast DIY bedroom pop scene. It’s a special album that I feel like I’ve known my entire life, that I was able to sing along to on the first listen, that smells like that baby blanket you still keep in your childhood room. Echoing the personality of the music, each tape comes in a hand-made fleece pouch with a 2" artwork button and hotdog-shaped insert booklet.

I can't recall ever writing anything like a review about an album before, but this is sooooo good! Surprisingly, amazingly good. If Second Hand Furniture tried to cover Tsunami it might sound like this. "Pretty good" is a wonderful understatement.
